the hungover in book form w/ an hangover. funny and touching by the screenwriter of the american pie movies
Amber Mcbride's poetry is beautiful in every form. I loved her YA in verse debut ‘‘Me Moth” and Mcbride was an instant auto read author. This is her debut poetry collection and i love the poetry of rootwork is included in every work. The poems are heartfelt, uplifting and deconstructions of the church, america and black womenhood. I really recommend all of her work

My thoughts
Cover: I think it's Gwen and Jason.Love the fire pictured on the cover. The fire of Inero
Book:The sequel was way better than the first. It's a companion novel you could say but still book two in a series. From the point of view of the enemy!?. The Inero
Two borthers, twin brothers.
Gwen is taken from her loving family
Kat is happy to been taken away from here's
There lives intermingle. Some are strangers to each others. Some not. Are the Inero really the enemy or something darker ,crueler and evil??
I was given a review copy by the author
Cover: Requested it right after I saw it on netgalley. Looked it up on Goodreads and saw a Uk cover I think. First loved that version but the Us started to grow on me and its now the better of the two [us cover]
Book: This is about Will, above 700 year old vampire but he looks like a 16 year old teenager. He hates the word vampire prefers the term Living Dead. He sleeps decades at a at a time reminds. He finds it to be a disease. And hate the being who did this to him. I could have finished it, had 100 pages left but forgot about it while reading a other book and it expired. I often read two books at a time. Downloaded it again, started but could not get past page 50. Don???t know why. It???s not that will is not likeable, gentle men like at times and not shimmering [I know a hint to twilight again] But did not feel attached to him or the girl he meets when he awakes in the 21 century after having 30 ish or more years of rest. I did like the atmosphere and anecdotes of him in the past centuries. The front used made it very journal like. In a couple of centuries he liked a girl but a happy ending in all of them. Don???t know if the 21th century girl falls in love with him, did not finished it. There were signs of maybe a romance. The enemy was a ENEMY. Those scenes were intense and you felt the atmosphere in the book. This is book 1 of the Trilogy and don't really know if i'll read book 2.A couple of people liked it on goodreads. Egmont USA has been extremely gracious in allowing me to read a copy of this novel, via Netgalley, prior to its release on September 27, 2011.
it was a fun to read about wren and pace . the story only takes under 2 weeks but their love did not feel insta lovy and did not like each other that much in the beginning
along the series/trilogy i think i will feel more for the characters
its more clock works than full steam punk
really enjoyed it . it began as a 3.5 and came to be a 4.5 in the end ^_^
My thoughts
??????I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me?????? excerpt 2nd cor. 12: 7-10
As the saying goes , ??????every family has its cross to bear??????. As does the Powell family. One of the crosses looms above Jake Powell. The pk; preacher kid. He has a drive for Journalism but his career choice is already determined, to be a preacher. Playing by the book is about Jake accepting himself and personal growth. At least he does IMO.
Religion and to be precise, the Christian faith is of importance in this book. I did not find it preachy but you may. So be wary of that. I grew up in a Christian household and I now when it gets preachy. I hate the bigoted way that my family members/former church goers are of opinion that homosexuality is a ???sin??? or a ???choice???. If you???re a BIGOT stay away from it.
THINGS WORTH MENTIONING:
(+) It gave me a peek at how living at a dorm maybe. I???ll be going to the university this fall and will not be staying at a dorm because there aren???t any. * exited but also scared to go to uni* #HistoryDepartment
(+) It is nice to see the pov of a gay Christian. This is an oxymoron to some. I???m all for people that want to be closer to God. But ??????curing?????? gayness is a criminal act to your true self. And I???m happy that Mr. Shirley did not chastise Jake. A life without romantic love or any love for that matter is a sad and lonely one. Can???t people not see that gay love is not ,just about sex and lust.
(+) Jake???s story felt realistic. Jake could be a real person whereas the characters from girlfriends with boyfriends by Alex sanches were not. Sanches??? characters were bare bones if you would ask me. Playing by the book has a more flamboyant male that is only seen once or twice. I???m bringing this up because even though we know little of the more flamboyant character, he???s did not feel like the token flamboyant guy.
(-) Mr. Shirley stop using Brah. I glossed over the dialogue or used bro in its place every time Sam Horowitz, love interest used it. JEEZ
(+/-) It was tough for me to read about the self-hate (of which I have to a degree and gladly has lessened), suicidal thoughts and suicide attempt ( I???m thankful never happened) and coming out process I really had to put down the e-reader/phone at times because it got to emotional.
(+/-) I feel like sam was less developed than Jake and wished it was not so. But besides that a good loveable character none the less.
In conclusion I truly love this book and fell in love with the characters. I hope that if people read that they will feel the same. And that my furure coming out will not be a train wreck. It is unlikely. Top reason; the bigotry in the church and my peeps being part of the church
My thoughts:
Cover: I absolutely like this cover.WATS NOT THE LIKE A BOUTH IT? A couple of YA Fiction covers are hideous , or the cover is the best thing about that book, meaning it sucked. Not this one the cover added to the book, you could see Dylan ,that the way I imagined him. The cover draws you in because it is a picture of a guy with piercing violet blue eyes staring into your soul. When I first saw the cover I was happy that it was on netgalley and I requested it. I got approved. So here I go
Book:
Ok it took a longer time reading it than expected. Normally it takes two ???four days to read a book. Been busy with school stuff.
the very beginning really interested me in reading the whole book. When he is dumped by his deadbeat mom, at his grandparents after an absence of 17 years, the story really begins. This is after the prologue . At the ranch or farm things start to happen !! He sees his ??? ghost ??????,Kera who appeared in dreams his whole life. Some less vivid than others. And he discovers she is from a other dimension, Taeg. A place still in the middle ages, looks like earth but different
I got to say the creapy creatures are cool, really cool. I encountered more than three species in the book . The poisonous Milispit(slimy half lizard creatures with broken looking wings) and the vindictive Pux( small fairy beings that have razor like parts of their body)
I liked Dylan from the very start, he is brave, he caring, just all round nice guy with a troubled past, the person he knew the longest in his life dumped him, his mom. Later on you find out why she is like she is. But I had no caring feelings for her, more mad and pissed
Kera , I did not like her that very much in the beginning. Boy I was wrong love her now, she has spunk, she comes up for what she believes in, helpful. They meet in the 2/3 of the story . Her chapters are in 3th person narrative , and Dylan???s chapters were in 1st person. I had to adjust at first that the reason I did not like Kera at first. I was happy their romance was not insta-love. Actually they met before and became friends in their dreams, a bit creepy but cool. And it was not vomiting like I did when I read the romance development, ps hate twilight I puked mentally
The secondary characters really added to the story, grandma and pa, Jason and Theo who became friends of Dylan . The dialog between them was very funny
I never thought I could get emotionally attached. I yelled, that can???t happened to them.
My favorite quote on the last page 286, received a netgalley arc
I sigh and my dream fades, replaced by the light of love shining from kera's eyes. my dream girl is real I don't have to be alone anymore
That 3 sentences made me longing for book 2. And a coupple questions were answered at the end and a coupple questions came into excistence in the end.
Act one is a novella that consists of 4 short stories. One about a struggling screenwriter, one at an eating fried food event, a grieving professor and a new neighbor meet cute. Talking about something being cute, each story was cute, was different and centered gay longing. You didn't feel that a story was an repeat with different names. The titled story ‘Act one' and Judy's plan are my favorites. Act one had hurt comfort and the second-rate superhero costuming was charming. The second story was just plain cutesy. Give it a try to put a smile on your face.
i enjoyed this audiobook. i downloaded from http://audiobooksync.com/ it was free in there summer giveway. wat lured me to this book was: first of all it was Free.it is written by joseph delaney and narrated by christopher evan welch. the story is a bout a boy names thomas J. Wurk i think, don't know if i heard it correct.
from goodreads;'‘Young Tom, the seventh son of a seventh son, starts work as an apprentice for the village spook, whose job is to protect ordinary folk from “ghouls, boggarts, and all manner of wicked beasties.”
this tale takes place in england
his dad owns a farm and looked for jobs for his 7 sons. when tom came to a age to hav a job all of his favors were used up lookin for jobs for the other 5 sons. the oldest got the farm. so he asked the spook apprentice-ship for tom. That's were the tale begins. he meets alice , a young witch and granddaughter of mother mulkin(was a audiobook so i don't know if i spelled it right lol). And the dangers occur from that moment on.spoiler, mother mulkin is the witch who took revenge, Thomas slayed her in the end some parts were a bit spooky and scary
1 of the most like able parts is where Tom knew this is wat i'm supposed to be, a spook
the narration was really good, my first audiobooks so i can't compare it I hung on Christopher's evry word, and for my pov the lines spoken in brittish english sounded real. I really hopin next book is just as good. its a series the first book
does not a review acksually , its a classic ,there are tons of reviews out there
here are my toughs
liked oliver, felt sorry 4 him that he had such a horrible lifehis mom died you know couple minutes after his birth , glad the last chapter if i'm correct was her story , who she was and ended when she died glad thsi story had a happy ending. There was no romance that i'm sir ten of.
i liked hating the badguys,LOL.
the only thing that lowered the rating ,where the many difficult words. I had a dictionary close by when i read it. Was annoying lol.
So there are my thoughts
This was the chapter i was talkin abouth , c my review when its posted
looks like cable how i imagined him. the only character i could picture in my head
it was okay but not that believable and very insta lovey
the main character was the saving grace for me at least
it was not that difficult to get back in to the world. great world building and spookier then the 1st . ^^
this book is a just a long boring roadtrip.also I could not connect with the characters. it felt like a diary.
it is still a three but at least it has more storytelling . the non consensual sex/rape scenes are not okay in my book. thats what you get when reading yaoi
