See allI have to say I love Julia Quinn and I've loved all the books by her that I have read. This will no be one of my favorites, but I still thought it was sweet.
This is a book about an interrupted love story. Robert Kemble, the earl of Macclesfield, and Victoria Lyndon, the vicar's daughter met when they were very young and it was love at first sight. Lies tore them apart and when they meet again, seven years later, there is a lot of mistrust and resentment between them.
I really liked this story and the way the relationship between Lady Olivia and Sir Harry developed. I love the fact that they became friends before falling in love. But, in my opinion, the ending felt a bit rushed. I also wanted to know more about Sebastian. It seems a waste to have such an interesting character in the background. Does anybody know if he gets his own book? Maybe in another series?
I have to say I liked this one a lot better than Everything and the Moon. Ellie is such a good female lead character. She's strong, independent, stubborn and is not waiting for prince charming to come and save her. I also liked Charles very much because he was not the typical overbearing and arrogant Earl who thought that every woman was supposed to fall at his feet. I liked the fact that they needed each other, so they entered in this marriage of convenience at the same level and neither had the upper hand.
This time James Patterson teamed up with Maxine Paetro. And I have to say that I really liked this one. I would like to have had more interaction with the Cindy and Claire (you know, the Women's Murder Club). I was also expecting a bit more mourning Jill. But all and all, I liked the book.
