Interesting discussion of philosophies of ethics regarding the relationship humans have with animals. The author's style is accessible. He remains neutral when his focus is on anglophone cultures, which is most of the text.
I enjoyed this satire of White Western attitudes toward Asian people and cultures. Written from the perspective of a Taiwanese American permanently stuck in code switch mode, humor ranges from laugh out loud to cringe. Certain reactions from white characters and their motivations may seem outlandish, but I have heard most of it, even the main twist, in person.
Tyler Stovall delivers a thorough, lively history of an idea. Beginning in the European Enlightment and making his way to the War on Terror, Stovall explores how the Western world has racialized the idea of freedom. Viewing it through this lens, he reconciles the contradiction between the idea of freedom in Western liberal democracies and the treatment of non-white peoples by those countries. He does not avoid the uncomfortable and likely controversial conclusions to be drawn from his subject.
Cosmic Ghost Rider is absurdly juvenile, even for a mainstream Marvel comic. That's not a criticism. With art that is colorful and action packed, this installment of Cosmic Ghost Rider serves the brooding Punisher something that he desperately needs: self reflection.
This was a sweet story about a young boy and his first crush. The translation was a breeze to read.
slow start compared to the movie or anime, but a much more coherent story all told. the moro stuff is pretty cool, too
