I can't recommend the audiobook enough! Great cast and vocal performances. This read is like cocaine (appropriately) for lovers of rock and roll history and a good story. I was hooked start to finish!
Satire and thoughtful commentary in a like-totally-fun package! I adored this audiobook, and the author's performance of the characters took it to 11. Off to read more Libba Bray ASAP.
Piranesi is extremely different from Strange & Norrell - not as long, with fewer fantasy elements, characters and plot and not a footnote in sight! - but it's just as well written. A slow burn at the beginning but worth the payoff. At first I thought the burn was too slow but on reflection, the initial lengthy descriptions of the House work perfectly to illustrate the House's endlessness. Highly appropriate in 2020, actually. Then the mystery kicks in and Piranesi is hard to put down!
So cute and unexpected! Great turn of the century Paris setting, beautiful art and a compelling story.
Unsettling to read during the coronavirus outbreak but this book was so well written (and well-read in the audiobook)! I was especially taken with the variety of characters and their diverse voices.
