Loved the anime so much I decided to fill up on the manga instead of rewatching the anime. The anime stayed mostly faithful to the manga so that's awesome.
The theme is cooking, but it's focused on competition - with food. Souma is a strong-willed young chef helping his dad run a family diner until circumstances chucked into an elite cooking school, where he begins his journey of becoming the best cook.
