I really wanted to like this! the world building, characters and storyline have everything it needs for success; however, the writing reads like a first draft. The entire story, you're being told instead of shown what's happening and it gives the story a Wattpad like feel.
For example, there's one line that says: “Thanks to his flaming-red hair, I found him quickly” instead of something like “With hair the color of coming embers, his shined like a beacon in the night in a sea of brunettes and blondes. Thus making the option of getting lost almost negligible.”
I feel like this has all the makings it needs to become a successful fantasy series if it just went through a few more rounds of edits and reviews.
I received this book as an Advanced Copy Reader and I finished it in less than 24 hours.

The first thing I want to say about this book is the WORLDBUILDING?! It was so good to sink my teeth into a whole new world and it really felt seamless. Is it weird to be obsessed with a castles lore? Because I am obsessed with this castles lore. Also we love a book with a map.
Neve is so wonderful and strong but not afraid to need help and that was such a nice break from what I've been reading lately. Sometimes you just wanna be rescued and honestly...same. Her thirst for freedom hit me hard and I was rooting for her the whole time.
Roar was... underwhelming and I don't trust him, but I'm willing to see why he did what he did in the next book... but I've got my eye on you. But Prince Vale on the other hand?! A shield?! I swooned not gonna lie.
I honestly loved all the female friendships that developed during this first book and I can not wait to see more of Princess Saga the most. I adore her.
I'm not going to give any spoilers in this review but can I just say it was juicy and as a mainly spicy book reader, this really took my by surprise at how much I enjoyed the slow burn of it all.
I'm hoping within the next book we get some more action and spice but mostly more wonderful worldbuilding and character development.
