Lent is a season in the Church that is kept to assist the heart in preparing and posturing to remember the passion of Jesus Christ and the Cross. We will take a purposeful journey to expose our idols, the things we set up higher than God, and find our righteousness only in Christ and His work on the cross. Lent is a forty-day journey, much like Jesus' walk in the wilderness. During Lent, we purposefully allow ourselves to become vulnerable to the power of God over our little gods. The fruits of setting ourselves in this season will produce contrition and repentance--not just simply sorrow, but a humble turning away from the things that keep us from the affectionate, open-hearted, scripture-filled love for Jesus. Furthermore, we hope that by joining together for this season, the Church in the City is impacted by experiencing renewal, revival, and restoration to the Glory of Jesus!
