Fans of Julie James, rejoice! After three books, she's still got the spunk and the wit. A Lot Like Love will appease the fans. For a while, at least.
Mrs. James does not bother herself with pointless details and got right into the story. We're introduced to both the characters, Nick and Jordan straightaway. Nick is an FBI agent, while Jordan is the owner of a wine store. And a billionaire heiress. The thing is, Jordan's got a brother, Kyle, who's being jailed. For hacking into Twitter and shutting down the site for 2 days. Freaking awesome. That alone got me in stitches.
So to get her brother out of the jail, Jordan needs to co-operate with the FBI. And in the process, she acquired a fake boyfriend, in the form of Nick McCall, the fed who perfected the don't-fuck-with-me face. One thing leads to another (but of course!) and they soon find out that they could really get used to the whole fake-boyfriend fake-girlfriend charade.
I love the book. It makes me smile and laugh at parts. Mrs. James' dialogues are always witty, funny and dripped in sarcasm. Her characters are never dull. It's a no-brainer and it draws me in from the very first page. I love both Nick and Jordan's characters. And I just adore Kyle. I mean, the guy hacked into Twitter and shut it down for 2 freaking days! I would love to see that happen in reality. Laugh out loud, indeed.
You will also catch glimpses of Something About You's Jack Pallas and Cameron Lynde (now a US attorney) in the book.
And I wonder, what will happen if Twitter goes down for 2 days?? Hmm...
