"A Silent Witness" is a detective novel by Dr. Richard Austin Freeman, featuring the medico-legal forensic investigator Dr. Thorndyke. In this book, Dr. Thorndyke has to investigate a mysterious murder on Millfield Lane, London. Yet, this case is unusual, as the dead man's body disappeared right after the witness went to the police.
