Altruistic to Vengeful Perspectives in Gibbsian Game Theory
Altruistic to Vengeful Perspectives in Gibbsian Game Theory
The primary purpose of this thesis is to introduce and develop a framework for perspective (e.g. altruistic, self-interested, vengeful dispositions) into Gibbsian game theory. As an integral part of the human decision making process, understanding and modeling human perspective provides an opportunity to (1) accurately determine solutions to well defined games, (2) optimize a player's strategy when facing an opponent with a fixed strategy and (3) develop an understanding of how human relationships affect the outcome of decision. Utilizing the well known prisoner's dilemma game and the framework developed, this thesis explores the claims above and produces solutions for well known real-world problems simplified into 2x2 games. The concepts contained herein provide a new method for understanding games of strategy.
