Ang Bundok Na Nagmahal Sa Ibon

Ang Bundok Na Nagmahal Sa Ibon

A fully illustrated, full color children's book in Filipino. The story is a translation of The Mountain That Loved A Bird by Alice McLerran, originally published in the United States with illustrations by Eric Carle. The translation from English to Filipino is by Rene O. Villanueva; the full color illustrations are by Beaulah Pedregosa Taguiwalo, drawn from the landscapes of the Philippines. It is published by Mother Tongue Publishing Inc., a Manila-based company that aims to publish books in as many languages as possible.

Filipino is the national language of the Philippines. It is an Austronesian language that is based on existing native languages in the Philippines, with Tagalog as the most prominent and having the strongest influence. Because of its similarity to the language on which it is primarily based, it is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Tagalog. A large number of Spanish and English loanwords exist in the vocabulary. Continuously evolving and developing, the Filipino language continues to be enriched by existing Philippine and other languages. It is the first language of Filipinos living in Metro Manila, and the second language of most Filipinos.

This book is also available in Hiligaynon, Kinaray-a, Cebuano, and Iloko.
