Ascender, Vol. 4: Star Seed

I've been slowly making my way through the Descender and then Ascender series and it did feel for a moment like the switch from robot/sci fi focus to heavy fantasy elements was the narrative veering off track, but I really loved how it all came together in the end. This might be the least violent of all the volumes in either series (is that a spoiler?) though not everybody makes it out alive. Will definitely be looking up Lemire and Nguyen to see if they have other work, and using these two series, as an example of the blend of sci fi and fantasy I enjoy. That and an emphasis on moving from the worst case scenario in speculative fiction, to the chance for harmony. Hurray for hero robots! 🤖♥️
