I've waited to post any comments on this book because the story is left hanging at the end of this book.
Great thriller with an interesting use of real evolutionary science to create a bleiveable story. This twists turns and end of the book made up for the somewhat slower parts of the book.
If you enjoy medical thrillers with a dash of scifi you'd enjoy this novel.
What can I say??
After reading some pages reader will think oh yeah i got it i think this will happen now. But that will not happen. So many twists revealed at the end.
This is one of the best Sci-fi+Historical+Mythology fiction I ever read.
The ending of the book is just tremendous.
I Liked the mix of Indiana Jones, X-Files and Stargate. It was a great start to what will hopefully be a great trilogy with a satisfying conclusion (hopefully!).
[b:The Atlantis Gene 17999892 The Atlantis Gene (The Origin Mystery, #1) A.G. Riddle https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1385398066s/17999892.jpg 24748164] is a good read and a quite respectable effort for a first book. The pace is fast; if anything too fast, and the story has more twists than an Appalachian blacktop. Some suspension of disbelief is required.A.G. Riddle uses a lot of short chapters, most of them ending on a cliffhanger. Unfortunately, this gives the story a jolting, cobblestone effect. He uses the trope of a story within the story to good effect – to fill in the back story, and then (unusually), merges it with the main story. All in all, a good book. I immediately bought the sequel, because, though the story doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it certainly isn't finished and I need to know what happens next.3½ stars because it is a good story that could perhaps be told better.
Good start to an exciting series. Action on par with something like the DaVinci Code, though not quite as intricate in the historical detail. The main characters are very interesting. The plot is very twisty but interesting and not beyond the ability to suspend disbelief.
Enjoyable fast-paced ride.
The search for a “cure” for Autism at the beginning of this book nearly had this Autistic throwing it away in disgust. Fortunately that plot point was abandoned early, and a truly intriguing story emerged in its place. Still dinging it a star by even including such an evil point - and applauding it as good.
To think this is a debut novel is quite remarkable in itself. Riddle really touches the concepts I'm interested in and does so by nailing the structure and the plot twists along the way, finishing with a satisfying ending that almost forces you to start reading the sequel. A sci-fi must.
