As a child, Lily knew she was bad. By the age of 13, she had killed someone with a thought, spread untold disease, and spied on her friends. Only by performing a series of secret routines could she correct her wrongdoing. But it was never enough. She had a severe case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and it ruled her life. A startling true story.

“Mindfulness is the fucking problem: my mind is too full.”
There are a number of books out there geared toward helping loved ones understand what it's like to live in the head of someone with OCD. Throw them all away and give them this book. This is what it's like, regardless of the specific obsessions and compulsions.
I recommend both the physical book and audiobook.
Wow. Recently I've been reading horror novels back to back, and I've gotta say this book has been the most suspenseful. In trying to read it, so many of my own obsessions and compulsions were triggered that I almost had to do the CBT along with her. I'm relieved that it's over and glad that I read it. Back to something calmer now.
