Fans of the Consequences series know that Tony Rawlings has had influence over the life of Claire Nichols for a very long time. Tony is capable of inflicting mental, physical and emotional abuse. He has anger issues. He is controlling and territorial when it comes to Claire Nichols. In Behind His Eyes – Truth, Claire has been pardoned. With her freedom, she finds her confidence, is very clever and grows a backbone. It is interesting to read how Tony reacts to these changes in Claire. Even more entertaining are his thoughts and feelings while he considers his moves and countermoves in a proverbial game of chess with Claire. His entire outlook on Claire Nichols and the Rawls family vendetta changes, much to the dismay of Catherine.
Readers will witness several key conversations between Catherine and Tony pertaining to Claire and the family vendetta. The level of Catherine's deceit was very obvious to me, even though Tony continued to trust her with their darkest family secrets. Catherine bends the truth of her own actions to appear innocent. She constantly questions Tony about his intentions for Claire, and she clearly is not happy when Tony decides that the vendetta is over. This companion will be surprising to readers who were skeptical about Tony's intentions at the end of Truth.
Readers will enjoy plenty of new reading material interspersed with scenes from the full-length novel in Behind His Eyes – Truth. Witness a king-size temper tantrum thrown by Tony when he learns Claire has been pardoned and has disappeared! When you read Truth, did you struggle to understand what Tony was trying to accomplish on the night of the Gala? Aleatha Romig thoroughly clarifies his mischief and intentions during the Gala in this companion. Enjoy the conversation Tony has with Catherine regarding a certain box of information sent to Claire while she was in prison. How did Tony feel when he discovered Claire is pregnant? The amount and quality of new material written by the author for this companion is both beneficial to the series and very interesting.
Aleatha Romig has chosen to write the Behind His Eyes companions to further enhance the reading experience of her Consequences series. The companions should be read only after the completion of Consequences, Truth and Convicted. Behind His Eyes – Truth gave me clarity. I found some of the new material very surprising. Perhaps the best thing about this companion is that Aleatha Romig showed her sense of humor – I found myself laughing, a lot! I am extremely excited to recommend another fantastic Behind His Eyes companion!
