I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.
In Being a Captain is Hard Work, Captain No Beard tries his hardest to shoulder all of the responsibility of being a captain without asking for help from his crew. But him taking responsibility consists of more than just not asking for help, he neglects to listen to their helpful suggestions and even argues with the crew, confident that he knows best because he is captain.
The morals and lessons in this book show the importance of teamwork and that's its okay to not know something. An analogy at the end of the book encourages listening before speaking and I thought it was said well and nice to put into the book. There is also a cloud key in the back of the book that is easy to understand and will appeal our future little meteorologists out there! The illustrations are well done and once again a well-written story.
I rate Being a Captain is Hard Work 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it along with all of Carole Roman's books!
