Betrothed: A Faery Tale

It seems hard to find a good mm faerie story. The main characters were unrelatable and childish. The author could have maybe fixed that by making them high school age but these were supposedly adults that had already been through college. I suppose if you want them to have sex in your story, they have to be adults, but then make them act more like it. Even if they aren't children but they act like children, the sex scenes come off as uncomfortable. Chrysanths/Puck is a spoiled brat who treats Sky like garbage but then suddenly flips and becomes weirdly possessive, but Sky isn't much better and seems very naive even when we find out he's had more sexual experience and training. The lore in this is entirely the author's own which was interesting, for something new, but gave me pause for certain things. When you have these established rules for faerie that a lot of authors follow and then one book goes way off, it can be a little frustrating. The biggest one is having your main character go by Puck but makes [b:A Midsummer Night's Dream 1622 A Midsummer Night's Dream William Shakespeare https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327874534l/1622.SY75.jpg 894834] an established fictional work and so his (human) dad calls him that as a joke. The tattoos and wings thing was silly, and them turning into “human” when they cross over rather than using glamour (which doesn't seem to exist here) was baffling. Overall, not a recommend.
