Unexpectedly spicy consider James was a virgin before he met Rowan (Sam's lawyer)
This whole series is very disability and chronic illness rep and I'm enjoying it a lot! Rowan was so kind about James' disability and never made him feel less than.
James' past is very religious so he had a hard time coming to terms with beyond gay - he head his southern preacher daddy's voice in his head saying all these things he wanted were a sin and he was doomed.
Rowan was so patient helping him get over that mental barrier, without judgement, and with so much patience. He had his own things going on with a terminally sick mother at home.
Probably the most traditional romance of the series so far, with fewer subplots and interactions with other series MCs. Plus lots and lots of sex (if you missed it in [b:American Traditional 48702856 American Traditional (Irons and Works, #3) E.M. I liked the fact that, although James is a double amputee, that's not a focus of the plot; it's just part of who he is. He's not overly concerned that Rowan can't love him because of his disability, although he does wonder what a fancy well-educated attorney wants with a mechanic/tattoo artist. Also appreciated the lack of angst between the two men even when they fear they can't find a way to make things work long-term. More than halfway through this series and am enjoying the characters tremendously, especially the support they all provide for each other when the chips are down.
