Reviews with the most likes.
Matthew Woodring Stover is a virtuoso musician who has chosen Technical Brutal Death Metal for his chosen method of expression. This was absolutely pummeling.
I'm confused why this series doesn't have a larger cult following, impact, or influence on the genre. Where is the praise/derision that this series should have left in it's wake?
A follow up book on a hardcore character is always difficult to create. As King did with Roland Deschain, Stover too works very well with a crippled hero. At the end you are left with a much better understanding of Caine and the best part is that you get this understanding along with him so its a great ride. The book though tends to border on too much philosophy at times in Caine's own words ““If I'd known I'd have to listen to you yap for the rest of my fucking life, I would have let you kill me”. But if you manage to have some patience and still understand the twist and turns you actually might end with a Hero who really lives on the edge.
Caine just got bigger and better even without his legs:-)
