Blood Engines

A clever idea to have a strong and assertive (and act strong not just claim she is while actions negate it like so many books) sorceress also as a politician. The book starts in the middle of her general story and makes reference to prior events (even though this is a first book) that helps to make the characters more real. Little lower score for some of the writing but I do plan to read more of her books.

This book was OK, a fast read and I wanted to find out what happened but I wasn't necessarily grabbed by the storyline. It's different from my usual reads and seems to have a lot of books in the series but I didn't care for any of the characters. It has urban magic in it and based in current times, but the buildup to the climactic ending was just so so. I don't think I'll read anymore Marla Mason books.
