First of all I love Megan Derr's fairy tale like writing stile. It really takes me back to my childhood, although the themes are slightly different and there are no princesses.
When I was small, I was a total sucker for The Little Mermaid, so I liked this one isntantly. Sadly it's really short, so there is only little time to get to know the main character Seree.
Derr's world building was amazing, even on only 29 pages she manages to create the Deep Sea, Seree's home, in a way that makes the reader feel as if he knew it for a longer time.
While the Deep Sea was explored Prince Aimé got left behind and the reader only gets a few glimpses of his personality.
All in all a good read, but not one of her stronger ones in my opinion. A lovely fairy tale to read in between.
