It did not take me long to read this succulent tale! Thank goodness Ms. Hamilton did not leave me drowning with questions, there were a lot that was answered with Anita and how her powers are growing way beyond comprehension, her softening heart between her wolfe and vampire lovers, and the deeper cognizance into the pasts of both Anita and Jean-Claude.
Bloody Bones starts with her being outsourced to Branson to raise notably aged dead in order to learn the rightful owner of the land to which an exorbitant construction is to take place. While in Branson, the Spook Squad loans her out to the local detectives when several teenagers have been brutally slaughtered. Anita feels that there may be some connection with the faerie owned land, the dead to be raised, and the murders. Later, she realizes her biggest challenge is not only a sword wielding creature and an arduous fey monster, but an omnipotent vampire that also realizes the potential of Anita's necromancy.
In order to get answers, Anita calls upon her sexy vampire lover, Jean-Claude. During Jean-Claude's stay to help his “ma petite” we learn about his and Anita's grief-stricken past, although very different history's, Anita discerns that they share a common ground and maybe, just maybe, Jean-Claude has a heart and soul and a passion that can be truer than any other. Letting her inhibitions go for one second, and we get to see how much she lusts or even loves her libidinous blood sucker
