Oh, my heart.
So happy to start my year off with a 5-star read. Granted I spent the last 20% or so of the book in tears but it was still an amazing book and everything I want in a good story! I wish I had a best friend like Kate. I highly recommend it!!

Uneven and with a beginning whose tone I found annoying. I'm also tired of the thing in books where everyone finds the main character to be so beautiful, but she's oblivious to it, and we never stop hearing about it.
Ultimately, though, this book excels at making the bonds between the characters pull wave over wave of emotions out of you. I was listening to the audiobook and during the last 1/4 of the book had to take breaks.
The only reason I finished this book was because I knew there was a sad ending. I really wanted to like it, but couldn't connect with the characters. It was way too long in my opinion, and had too many secondary characters. Half way through I thought about no finishing it, but decided to stick it out. I will say the ending is the best part of the book.
Ugh! I'll come back to this on the right day, but, because I'm a spoiler whore, I had to find out who ended up with who at the end of the book, only to find out there's death involved and I was NOT prepared for it. I wasn't very far into the book and I still cried. It's well-written and clearly I was emotionally invested in the characters early on, but I had to walk away because it was not what I was mood for.
