PIERRE (“GAGS”)
My life is complicated.
Hell, I’m complicated.
I don’t know a life beyond how I’m perceived. After a devastating divorce, it looked like I never would.
Can a hockey fight change your life?
I may not understand my attraction to Sven Holmer, but I can tell you my obsession with kissing him started in the middle of a fight. When we met again, the conversation was easy, the banter effortless. Once stolen glances gave way to secret touches, I was more confused than ever. How the hell am I supposed to handle it when everything I’ve always believed about myself no longer fits?
Things are great… until they aren’t.
Our connection deepens with every minute we spend together, but like me, Sven is no stranger to betrayal and heartache. Between my stubbornness, his reservations, and the start of a new season, how can we survive months apart?
When tragedy strikes, all bets are off. I just hope it’s not too late.
Broken Ice, Mended Hearts features two thirty-something hockey players hardened by heartbreak. This compelling, angsty book includes a bisexual awakening, hurt/comfort, found family, first times, high heat, and a hard-earned HEA. Though it is part of the Bethesda Barracudas Hockey series, it can be read as a standalone.

In which two MCs fall in love 30% in and all is bright and sunny, and THEN they spend the rest of the book trying to dismantle what they built. 🤦
The first part of this book is insanely well done, the chemistry between the two practically flies of the page. For God's sake they almost kiss on the ice the first night they meet DURING a game. And it was believably written too. I really thought these two were going to pull off the most chaotic meet-cute I've ever read.
This was also one of those books where one MC keeps hurting the other in small little unknowing ways, and somehow that's so much worse than when they do it for some well meaning reason or even just because they're an arse because how are you even just hurting me at 2pm on a Monday? What did I even do? 💀
At some point, I just wanted to retrieve sweet baby Sven from the dynamic and let Pip think long and hard about what he was doing.
So naturally, when the self-sabotage started, I was really put out. They lived in the same goddammn STATE. What level of incredible self-pity is it when this is an insurmountable obstacle. IT SHOULDN'T EVEN BE CONSIDERED A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP!!!!
Okay but to be fair, it's a more realistic depiction of how long distance relationships(or to be accurate - relationships where the schedules are diammetrically opposite) can be. Nick Russo does a phenomenally atrocious French accent for Pip, but boyyyy does he nail the emotions during their screaming matches.
Sometimes they fight and you don't even know why they're fighting. Also, I hate when one MC needs a near death experience of the other to realize how much they love them BUT.....the recovery period from that was really well done.
Pip more than made up for his earlier shenanigans. These two were incredibly reckless with each other but I love each one for the other.
