I feel like I love Lynette Eason's writing more with every book I read of hers. This series is one of her best and the characters practically spring off the page. Chloe was a great heroine and I loved all the page time that Hank the dog got. As much as I enjoyed book one, this one was better and also easier to follow.
Blake was a good hero. Strong without being pushy or overbearing. Talk about impossible options!! This guy has got it bad. Either turn on his entire life and kill the folks there with him, or lose his daughter. One thing I really admired was how Eason managed to portray his feelings and his predicament, showing the pain in his heart without getting down into melodrama.
I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, and it complicated matters to have Claire's relative Rachel caught up in this same human-trafficking group. I was keeping up my hopes for Blake's daughter pretty well, but I really wasn't sure about Rachel's chances. Definitely an edge-of-your-seat read!
