Real, inspiring, and full of love. A recommended read for any parents, christians, and/or people who need some cheering up and perspective on life..
Neither funny or inspirational although people have definitely gotten that out of this book based on the rave reviews. Not for me. Barely got through it. Kept waiting for something even vaguely amusing based on the glowing reviews. Didn't happen.
I am not a mother and I am not a Christian (two rather strong themes in this book) and I have never visited Glennon's blog; yet, I am a big fan of this adorable, deep, and authentic book. I love who Glennon is and who she continues to try to be. Standing firm in who you are while the world relentlessly judges you and screams that you need to change? That is bravery. That is courage. That is success. People like Glennon inspire me to be more me-er than ever.
I know that Glennon's life has changed (divorces and remarried) since this book was published, but in no way did it taint her messages of love, humour and truth telling. Fingers crossed that she is writing/compiling another book... and soon!
This won't be for everyone, but it was definitely for me. Sometimes in life you are sent a blessing in disguise - a gift you didn't even know you wanted. That was this book for me. It made me feel less crazy, less awful, less alone. The author's style is quite informal, and I listened to the audiobook read by the author, so it literally seemed like she was talking directly to me. I am a fan of her work, her honesty, and her philosophy. We can do hard things. We belong to each other. Love wins. Thank you, Glennon.
