Second Adventure of Harry Hole. The writing style and while the story is less emotionally developed, the plotline is captivating and truly well-thought-out
Harry Hole is a messed up character. His personal life is a total chaos but one thing is for sure, he's a pretty good cop. Suspensful, engaging. I enjoyed this one more than The Bat.
It took me a long time to return to the Harry Hole series after reading The Bat. Why? I honestly couldn't tell you because I enjoyed that first book quite a bit. Not shockingly, I also enjoyed the 2nd book too. I mean, we are talking about a supremely flawed protagonist, a truly disturbing run of crimes, and some good social commentary. What is there not to like?
Great story with many twists and turns. Gut wrenching graphic violence in parts, which you can either like or totally ruin the book for you.
I am positively surprised by this book. Finally something I can give four stars without feeling bad.
This is the third novel from the “Harry Hole” series I read and the second from the beginning. While the first one was kind of weak, this had enough Scandinavian bleak darkness to make it quite enjoyable. Really looking forward to reading the next one.
