An interesting premise, interesting enough to finish the book, but after a while I just got sick of so many things. Like people explaining things to other people who already know. “We've been over and over this” or “You know as well as I that....” Combine that with the incredibly strained similes and metaphors that litter almost every paragraph (“a late-model, two-door electric compact ... [that] was the color of cold oatmeal.” How exactly does cold oatmeal differ in color from warm oatmeal?), and there was just no way I could really enjoy this book.
Our main character wakes up and realises she is missing the last 18 months of her life - because she is a clone and the last date her consciousness was downloaded from the “real” her was 18 months prior. As she attempts to piece together what her original body was doing in the last 18 months, the book also explores the ethical dilemmas that come with cloning.
A really fun (and different) read!
I think the resolution wasn't as strong as the setup but it was still very interesting. Really enjoyed the book overall. A lot of fascinating philosophical questions wrapped up in a sci-fi thriller. Good stuff.
