I must say that this author is quickly making her way to a “must read” spot on my favorite author list. This is the second book of hers I have read and both have been smokin' hot and fantastic reads.
So onto to the details. I found this one to be well written and well paced. It's a relatively short book page wise, but I felt the author did a good job of fleshing out the plot and characters. Do I wish it had been longer? Of course, I was enjoying these characters immensely and I think it would have made an excellent full length book. Nonetheless, the plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. The sex scenes were hot and plentiful. There is quite a bit of dub-consent in this one, so do be aware of that. There really wasn't any angst and there was no OW/OM drama. Neither characters sexual past is really mentioned so I don't know if either had been with others after their one night stand. The heroine dated another man, but it is never mentioned if she slept with him. There is only one secondary character (if you can call him that) that plays a minor role. Still, it was enough to get yours truly intrigued and I wouldn't mind reading a book about Stephen.
I LOVED both the main characters in this one. They reminded me a bit of the couple in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Mira (Mirage) was a badass thief. She was feisty and sassy. She gave as good as she got but she was no match for Paine (Pain) or his discipline. Paine (Pain) was sexy as f-ck. Alpha. Badass. Knew his way around a belt and used it often. What else can I say? I loved these two together SO much. I would read an entire series just devoted to these two traveling the world and thieving together. lol Last, it was all wrapped up in a good (not great) ending. I would have liked to have seen further in the future for this couple, but hey, maybe the author will read this review and grant my wish for an entire series featuring them. A girl can dream...two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.
