I feel bad that I don't have more to say...good, solid PI stuff, will be back for more.
VI goes to the Chicago port to find out about her cousin Boom Boom's death. She believes that someone murdered Boom Boom. The local police believe that this ex-Black Hawks hockey player died in an accident. Vic starts digging for possible motive and evidence. After two attempts on her life, she finally thinks she has the murder solved. The problem is VI lacks evidence. To get it, she goes to the yacht of a shipping magnate. Unfortunately, VI is captured gathering evidence against him. He confronts her and tells her she is going to die.
The book rattles along at a reasonable pace, despite the explanations of how shipping works. It's refreshing to read about a capable female in detective literature; enthusiastically recommended for fans of the genre.
