There was a time when I quite liked this book, and I've read it repeatedly, but it gets old on me and doesn't stand up well to modern competition. I suppose the Deathworld series has its place in the history of science fiction, but I wouldn't recommend it to readers in the 21st century, unless you have a real taste for the old stuff.

This is not Harry Harrison at his best—although it's not him at his worst, either.
