I read this for the second time because 2019 is the year I am trying to finish series I have started.
“I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It's undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you've paid off your debts.”Debt Inheritance was a unique and interesting take on the Dark Romance genre. It doesn't necessarily fit perfectly into the kidnapping or sex slave category but it has certain elements of both along with darkness and depravity.Nila was a tough one for me. Her personality vacillated from weak and timid to strong and defiant. I really liked the strong Nila. I love when my heroines stand up against the big bad alpha males and show a little back bone. I think the weakness and confusion she expressed was however appropriate to her character. She was sheltered, never had a boyfriend and now she is stuck in this impossible situation with a man she both fears and is sexually drawn to.Jethro was cold and calculating. He uses his silence to instill fear and order which makes him more intimidating to Nila. Jethro and the Hawk family are still a bit of a mystery. The Hawks are a cross between a wealthy aristocratic family and an MC club which I still don't really get but I am willing to suspend reality and go with it. It is fiction after all. My hope is to see more depth and compassion from Jethro as the series moves forward. I need that little bit of tenderness that I can hold onto knowing that in the end he will turn from villain to hero. Now that being said... I think the twist in this story is that Kite is Mr Hawk! I can't wait to see if I am right!
