Excellent book, gave me a vivid picture of the amazing work done by Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP in the 1950s.
I know about Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and others of that time who fought for equality. The people in this book were precursors to those others, and it was amazing to learn about them and their strategic fight. It seems to me their fight was even harder because they were fighting for the end of segregation, which had to be won before equality. I was glad to learn a little about Thurgood Marshall but also about Charles Hamilton Houston, who must have been a brilliant, determined fighter. I wouldn't know how to write a review about the events of the book - they are too horrific - but the story is riveting and very well written.
