As a person who helps lead youth, I liked the idea of a book that encourages youth to rebel against low expectations. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything particularly helpful or useful in this book. It seemed to be challenging teens to rebel against low expectations around things like morality or laziness, rather than challenging them to tackle the larger injustices of the world. The book is more than 10 years old, so it might just be out of date.
This book was great!! My brother gave it to me and said he read it when he was my age and that it helped him a lot. As a teen myself I thought that everything in it was so relatable and on point. After I read it I gave it to a friend who liked it as well. I would definitely recommend anyone....to any teen who feels stuck, or you just feel like everyone underestimates you but you don't know how to prove them wrong. As teens it seems that so little is expected of us, but we need to learn to Do Hard Things.
