I'm really enjoying this series! - 5 stars
I'm really enjoying this series! This installment starts in a very dark place but you can't keep MacKayla Lane down for long. I will say that there were some moments that wrecked me emotionally. I still can't pin down Jericho Barrons! Don't even get me started trying to figure out what's happening with V'lane and Christian. I can usually see a plot twist coming a mile away but this series has managed to genuinely surprise me on multiple occasions. I loved Mac and Dani as sidhe seer outcasts! I really hope we get to learn more about Dani! She has become one of my favorite characters in the series. There are some nice revelations about Mac's family but you'll be left with even more questions about how everything will play out when you finish this one. I'm on to Shadowfever!

It's very difficult to talk about this book without being spoilery. Suffice it to say, it was addicting. I loved it. I grew to like characters I wasn't crazy about before. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT finish this book without Shadowfever sitting next to you, ready to be opened. I have no idea how the people who read this series live did not go completely insane in the wait between these two books.
Enjoyment and fast pacing aside, this series is packed with amazing fae lore and the worldbuilding is pretty good.
the content in this book made me extremely uncomfortable and i almost DNF'd it a few times. i ended up skimming through some parts and was reinvested by the last quarter and let down by the ending. the world continues to interest me, but i can no longer stand the dynamic mac and barron have. however there's only one book left in mac's story, so on to the next one i go. hopefully the story redeems itself (i doubt it will tho)
