Why?

I love the world building that comes with most fantasy stories, but I am a big believer in things like ‘less is more' and ‘show don't tell' - which means that I don't want info dumps in the first part of the book where every minutiae is lovingly described. I've read fantasy books like that and never really enjoyed them. At least I've learnt that I should just vacate the book.

Go ahead and say I'm easily bored (because you're probably right)AND take my issue with a grain of sand because it seems like nearly everyone that read this book liked it. But the first part of a book needs to catch my attention and keep it for me to want to read the book and this one was more concerned with world building - too concerned with that for me.
