After tragedy upends her world, Jeannette Mason retreats to the tiny Oregon seaside town of Hope Harbor to create a new life. Vowing to avoid emotional attachments, she focuses on running her lavender farm and tea-room--until a new neighbor with a destructive dog and a forlorn little girl invades her turf. But she needn't worry. Dr. Logan West is too busy coping with an unexpected family, a radical lifestyle change, and an unruly pup to have any interest in his aloof and disagreeable neighbor. Yet when both Jeanette and Logan find themselves pulled into the life of a tattered Christian family fleeing persecution in war-torn Syria, might they discover that love sometimes comes calling when it's least expected? Bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon invites readers back to the charming seaside town of Hope Harbor, where they are sure to find peace, healing, and a second chance at happiness.

Lavender fields, tea rooms and a path to the beach set the scene for an emotional, charming and beautiful storyline. Jeanette hopes for a fresh start when setting up her lavender farm and tea room in the seaside town of Hope Harbor. Her neighbor, Dr. Logan West's life has taken a turn with the loss of close family and he is struggling to keep up with his new role that he inherited. The main characters are wonderful and the supporting characters are also very captivating. The storyline is full of loss and the pain of losing someone you love. It intertwines three situations of loss and hope in the process of trying to pick up the pieces. Most intriguing is the relationship that develops between two children who cannot speak the same language but develop a bond over the loss of loved ones. They don't need to speak to each other in order to give comfort and hope to one another. It's a beautiful side story within the main storyline, one that I won't soon forget.
While it is filled with painful emotional scenes that pull at your heart strings, it also has sprinkled in laughable scenes and of course love in all capacities. You will feel a full range of emotions while reading this lovely book. This Hope Harbor novel was one that I couldn't put down and read straight through on a sleepless night.
