I read this as part of working through the books that i have added to my to-read list over the years. I added this to my list maybe 8 years ago. I think had I read it then, it would have been helpful. I think that as I read it now, it feels too late. I already know these things. EQ has, perhaps, stepped a bit more into the spotlight since this was written? Perhaps helpful for people new to leadership tho.
This is the book I wanted the original EI book to be. Instead of just talking about how important EI is, it actually gives ideas for improving your EI skills.
Oh boy where do I begin. This test itself is total bullshit as it's extremely clear what the ‘right' answer is. They use am American grading system for test results, which really does a disservice to everyone.
They give no info on the size or demographics of all their ‘data'. Which I find laughable anyway since self awareness is something being tested. Both the book and the test are extremely neuro-typical. This book definitely shows its age.
The 1 star is for the actual ‘strategies' which is basically rebranded therapy. If you're looking for a book on emotional intelligence pick literally any book on therapy and it'll be better.
