I don't like urban fantasy books (why am I talking about that on a sci-fi review? Just wait) and the reason I don't like them is I don't like the chatty, colloquial dialogue or the almost stream of consciousness mental ramblings. Or, to be honest, the first person perspective. Usually I'm safe from all that in sci-fi. This one, in the few pages I read, showed all the hallmarks of a standard urban fantasy writing style that would annoy me.

Lovely sounding idea, but I'm out because I personally am not liking the writing style.
