This book was better than the last one. I get tired of reading and Davenport and his women. He is such a dick and not a likable character at all. I found myself hoping he would get killed or fired. In this book he is still dealing with depression after a near death situation from the previous book. He begins working a case where a woman is found killed and her family thinks he husband did it but he has a clear alibi. A lot of people suspect the husband hired someone to kill her and one of those people is a cop that knows Davenport. This guy is the dead woman's cousin and he pleads with Davenport to take on the case. More people are killed in the same way as the story progresses and they are sure it's the same guy because the eyes are always maimed. As Davenport investigates he meets a young woman and they become close. He just doesn't know how close she is to the killer.
Even though I don't like Davenport this book makes me want to read the next book to see where the story goes. I think the stories are good even though the main character is a dick. I wonder if they will get better.
