This strong Christian (or should I specify Protestant) story is true historical fiction, spanning the years of 1510-1519 in France, even including footnotes to back up the historical parts. It's very interesting, and I wish more modern books were being written about the early days of the “faith in Christ alone” folks who stepped out and risked their very lives for the sake of the good news of the Gospel. They had no Scriptures, or mere scraps of them, and yet they endured torture and banishment and death for that promise of life in Christ.
We have a whole Bible now to refer to—can we dream of taking it that seriously?
