This was somewhat of a let down after how much I enjoyed the previous books. I feel like there was all this hype for the final act in the story and it fell flat for me.
This book and series are a nice bit of escape.
The end of this book was tidy but keeps the world open for more story.
This series has a little bit of fantasy, a lot of myth/world interest, magic, intrigue, simple characters, and a little bit of romance. The romance is PG and a little awkward.
I don't know if its cause this was the last one and I was desperate to know how the series would end but I sped through this final book. It was entertaining and satisfying and that's enough for me.
3.75* I was a little disappointed about this ending. But overall, I loved this series.
I am sad to see this journey end. What an absolutely amazing series. I love dark and I am starting to really love fantasy. This series combines both and will be a favorite for a long time.
I enjoyed the world of Fennbirn and all of the characters in it. So well written and perfectly paced. The ending was sad and my heart broke for the lost. Change is always hard but sometimes needed and it takes heroes, love and sacrifice to make that happen.
That was an intense and satisfying finale to a very interesting, creative series.
[update later] It turns out the longer I think about the ending, the more holes I can poke in things, and once I had time to process... it's fine, but it's sloppy.
And done. I think this is the first series I have finished in years. I found this to be a fitting end to a long story. I don't want to give anything away.
