Upon his death in 1994, Charles Bukowski left behind abundant archives of unedited material or material published in underground magazines. What has been brought together here is that which, according to John Martin, his editor from Black Sparrow Press, constitutes "the missing link in the work of Bukowski, which all of a sudden gives everything more meaning". There are now demonstrations of his skill from his very first published stories, and of his peculiar way of narrating which lies somewhere between autobiography and fiction.
