Picked this up because of this Instagram review I saw. It is beyond me how this was longlisted for the Booker prize, will be discounting all “award winning” books henceforth.

It started strong, especially because I strongly identified with Antara's hate for her parent. But went downhill from chapter 2. Some reviewers seem to take issue with how disgusting some characters are - I actually don't care much and that's telling. Because I'm nearly halfway into the book and I simply do not care for any single character.

It can also be a great case study on how descriptive prose can be absolutely meaningless.
