Auren’s story isn’t over yet . . . Pre-order GOLDFINCH now, the final chapter in the epic story that has gripped the world. -- The seductive and thrilling dark fantasy romance series comes to an end in this powerful finale. One king caged my body. Another has caged my mind. War has broken out between Annwyn and Orea, though that’s not the only battle being waged. There’s a fight inside me, and it’s one I’m determined to win, no matter how much they try to strip me down and hollow me out. Yet they’ve forgotten one thing. The ancient magic of the pair bond. One can never truly be lost when two souls are already bound. Because Slade and I? We are connected by more than just fated magic, and we will always find each other. In any life. The fae king is trying to destroy me. My heritage. My memory. But what he hasn’t realized is this: gold bends, but stone breaks. And a Goldfinch does not fall. I'm devastated. THIS is what the previous books were leading to? It's like you lost your own voice and decided to rehash Maas's Throne of Glass.
For the record, I loved OREA. Not some fucking Fae kingdom we don't even see until book 5. And then you strand everyone there as if it's some nice little bow because they're together and the side chars will of course get used to it, right? Because all that matters is little miss golden Auren is in the fae realm where she glitters and shines and is worshipped and adored (oh ye gods, it's Aelin all over again! The names even are similar!). Also, of course SHE gets to be healed, and fully whole, and still use all her powers, but Slade? Nah, he gets downgraded. Gains a dragon only for it to be snatched away and be a wisp of its former self, and none of that raw magic comes back either, of course. You gave that to him so she could get to the fae realm, and then you took it away so they could never go back.
Also for the record, I didn't mind most of the POVs. My main issue is the ending, and all the cracks it exposed that I had overlooked before.
