Meh.
Let's just say, after the first couple chapters, this book had a lot to overcome. And it didn't do it all well.
This is told from Dylan's perspective and when we first meet Chris he is pants-less, peeing off his back porch that is littered with empty beer bottles and cans. He is constantly referred to as smelling like beer and tobacco. When they first have sex (too soon for me, to be honest) Chris is wearing overalls. A totally unsexy, turnoff fact that for some reason the author goes to great pains to not let you forget.
From there on, I do start to get vaguely attached to Chris, Dylan as well, but neither as much as I should. I prefer my romance novels to have much less sex and much more emotions than this one does - add in the ex Andy and his activities and, really, this feels like a soap opera. (Also, there is a small helping of toxic masculinity and the standard sexual assault (rape-y undertones with the ex and the whole grab and kiss thing that I hate) that seems to come with gay romances.)
