The adventure continues in this action-packed second book in The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins, New York Times bestselling author of The Hunger Games! Months have passed since Gregor first fell into the strange Underland beneath New York City, and he swears he will never go back. But he is destined to be a key player in another prophecy, this one about an ominous white rat called the Bane. The Underlanders know there is only one way to lure Gregor back to their world: by kidnapping his little sister, Boots. Gregor's quest reunites him with his bat, Ares, and the rebellious princess, Luxa. They descend into the dangerous Waterway in search of the Bane, and Gregor knows what is at stake. If he does not fulfill the prophecy, his life, and the Underland, will never be the same.

Another charming story with good development. Great to “see” Gregor and his family again. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
I'm still into this series. Collins is so great at exploring the ambiguities and complexities of war. This is less graphic and perhaps less overtly political than the Hunger Games, but no less complex. I'd especially recommend it to kids who want to read Hunger Games but are really too young for it, or for fans of Warriors or other talking animal warrior-type books.
But also for adults.
Short review: another fun, quick young adult fantasy audiobook to pass away the time while doing data processing work. The one interesting twist is what happens when Gregor doesn't do what is expected (or what he is told) but things work out anyway. There are consequense to be faced by those that don't know his reasoning. Interesting twist.
