This book was great! This is the concluding volume of the Rebel of the Sands trilogy, and it wrapped things up perfectly. I especially liked how she handled character deaths; each one got a short little chapter told in a legendary story kind of way, switching to a third person narrator instead of the first person viewpoint of Amani. The last chapter, telling us what came after the events of the book, was told in the same manner, and I really liked how it tied the book together.
There's so little I can say about this book without spoiling the previous two! We learn even more about the Djinni in this book, and some of the creation myths of Amani's people. We get a little more into the politics of other countries, and even a bit of their magic. And ohhhh there are stories to be told there, if Hamilton wants to continue in this world. I'd love to see a prequel based on Sam, and his country could do an entire sequel trilogy!
I think one of my favorite scenes was Amani using her control of sand to sail their ship across the desert. It's just an amazing visual.
This was one of the best concluding books to a trilogy that I have read in a long time. Fantastic book.

I cried. A lot.
This book broke my heart in the best and the worst ways possible. Beware, it's going to break your heart too. The Rebels are at war and we all know what happens when people are at war: people die.
This review is spoiler-free, don't be afraid. I just want to let you know that this book is brutal, but it is absolutely amazing. Every single death was worth it, but that didn't make them any less painful.
I love Amani and Jin so much, but especially Amani. From a small, fearful desert girl from the middle of nowhere, she becomes a strong part of the Rebellion, guiding them with all that she is, all that she has. Amani is truly inspiring and I adored her evolution throughout the book, it made me so happy.
She does things she never thought she was capable of and surprises everyone, even herself. That's what makes this story incredible.
I also loved LOOOOVED the writing style! So magical and so beautiful, I felt like I was a kid and someone was telling me a really good story, that's how the author's style felt for me. Which was truly amazing, it made me feel so many things at once.
Great, great book from such an amazing series. I highly recommend it!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS OFFICIALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES OF ALL TIME!!!! this book was everything i wanted and it had me on the verge of tears multiple times (which is super rare for me). i already want to reread it so i can annotate it with all my favorite parts.
