Rob is good on music: he owns a small record shop and has strong views on what's decent and what isn't. But he's much less good on relationships. In fact, he's not at all sure that he wants to commit himself to anyone. So it's hardly surprising that his girlfriend decides that enough is enough.

I had to read this book for one of my literature courses at uni and I quite liked it!! It was some time ago so I can't say much about why I liked it but it left me this feeling of being a nice and entertaining reading.
I also have watched the film adaptation before reading or even knowing about the existence of this book and I enjoyed it so it wasn't a bit suprirse for me to also enjoy the book.
I'm really horrible at reviewing... which it doesn't say good things of me, being (almost) a major in English...

I am not officially and formally a Rom-Com kind of guy, but I gave in to a desire for mindless humor and decided to play “High Fidelity” with John Cusack the other day. I've always enjoyed the wit and the quirkiness of the supporting characters, and I've always had a problem with the choppiness of the movie as Rob horndogs after one girl or the other.
Having discovered that the movie was based on a book, I decided to give the book a shot, figuring that it would probably be nothing like the movie.
Surprise! Much of the dialogue is taken directly out of the book. Likewise, the supporting characters, Dick and Barry - played by Jack Black and Todd Louiso - were spot on characterizations from the book.
So, you can relive the movie, but the book is actually better because it makes more sense in terms of the plotline and story development.
I enjoyed the movie; I thought the book was better by a hair.
