History of PR seen through a lens I had never before considered. Fascinating, insightful, and often depressing. What strikes me is how Colonial the whole thing feels, and how impossible it has become to preserve order and respect in a society that no longer expects or even understands it. I always thought police and politicians in PR were corrupt; I learned that I didn't even know a fraction of it. Good luck, PR; you're going to need it.
Well written but poorly translated and abysmally edited. Try reading the original Spanish instead. And yes, do read it, at least if you're Puertorican with a legal bent of mind and a strong interest in history. (Why am I writing this? How many of those people are there, and of those how many are going to look this book up on Goodreads?!)
